Should we throw away judgment and put our faith in the latest charlatan? The right path isn't always clear. "Dreams really do come true in N. Richard Nash's gloriously optimistic comedy about miracles, drought, family and love. This charming fable about a con artist living completely in his dreams, a spinster living entirely outside her dreams, and her delightful farm family in the midst of a drought is a joy for every audience. "--The New York Times. The play revolves around Lizzie Curry, a plain young woman who lives with her father and two brothers on their ranch. The men have been trying unsuccessfully to marry Lizzie off, when one day a charismatic stranger arrives with an offer to bring rain-for a price. Starbuck, the "rainmaker" exercises his fascination on the whole family. Lizzie falls under his spell and ultimately learns to believe in the beauty she possesses. In the end, each character must look inward to find a balance between reality and imagination, a space where faith and fact can both live. Running time is approximately 2 hours, with one fifteen minute intermission. Home Planet Productions was formed in 2005 by Donna McFall as a non-profit theater company. Casey Enyeart and Patrick Dizney are founding board members. Our first production was Paula Vogel's Desdemona, A Play About A Handkerchief, which we produced at CoHo Theater in August, 2005. The mission of home planet productions is to stimulate, celebrate and enhance understanding of ourselves and others through the shared experience of theater. We believe in the power of live theater to open hearts and minds and to allow people of all walks of life to experience the kind of growth and connection that can lead to real changes in the world. We will produce both new plays and classics marked by innovative interpretations and a reflection and inclusion of our community and the world in which we live. The West End Theater is dedicated to providing wholesome theater with a prophetic edge. The theater itself is an emerging venue for live theater growing out of the location that used to be "The Movie House." To learn more about The West End Theater, visit www.westendtheater.org.
