I can tell the difference even on my shitty Sony headphones (made in
Phillipines)! Getting proper monitors is something I'll have to invest
in next, after I get myself a car (two years without one feels good on
the conscience but leaves one so disadvantaged).
One thing my knowledge is still a bit murky with is how Cubase deals
with bit rates. To import samples of higher bit depth or sample rate
don't I have to change the setting in the project setup first? Isn't
the project bit/sample setting the one which all plugins use internally,
or do the plugins work at the maximum quality even if the project is set
at 16/44?
When I load up an old project in 16/44 and I go to change it over to
32/48, doesn't all the samples used have to be converted? I've had a few
problems doing this as it gets pitches and samples positions wrong,
hence me getting very flummoxed.
I just wish there wasn't TWO dimensions of quality! Which to use?!!
Should I be using anything like 88.1/96kHz or is 48Khz okay? What's the
point of 24-bit when there's 32-bit?
I know we've had some very good posts here on this subject years
ago...maybe I should do my homework...
