but it's not weave-shielded with gold-plated connectors and covered in a
genuine yak-hair sheath woven by 80-year-old nepalese virgins... really,
what are you getting for your $2/ft?!?

ok, so maybe $300 is still too high for good speaker cabling... but i'm
willing to believe there is some difference between cheap radio shack
wiring and high-quality cables.  Are professional recording studios wired
with $2/ft cabling?  probably not, and I believe there is a reason.  

however, these stories of thousands of dollard a foot are pure lunacy.
