[Dream] help, my "sound" pc stopped working... what to do?

damm sophisticated stuff with no reliable manual or whatever...
the days i did computer maintenance as work everything was much simpler.
i placed the ram again and the graphics card and tryed to boot, but now the
HD light just went on and the off (as is supposed i think) and nothing else
happened: no display on the monitor, etc
i think i heard it beep once :D
i'm now taking off the battery and i'll try to boot again
damm piece of s*** computers...
it would be great to have another one to swap stuff and understand whats
happening
sucks
