OK, so what about the "congas" and "maracas" on an 808??  Those are
analogue and obviously electronic.

Although I hear what you are saying.  I often found the addition of
"world" sounds to IDM /progressive/whatever a bit pretentious.  Otoh,
if someone is actually from South of the border then that is like a
German producer using wavetables :)
