It's kinda easy nowadays with the advent of dual core technology. 2 GB of
RAM is preferable... if you have the budget. I have a firewire Audiophile I
got for about £130 sterling. Not sure if they make these anymore but any
M-Audio firewire or USB should do the trick. I had lots of issues with PCI
cards before and the firewire option is very stable. If you are making music
you may want to opt for a widescreen laptop.
Aside from this the brand of laptop you get... well you hear bad things
about all the manufacturers. I would suggest picking a few laptops based on
the important issues (shape, colour... is it sexy) then look on the net for
some technical reviews... see if its a goodie or a hummer. Then shop on the
net to see if you can get a deal with discount and/or free shit thrown in.
Personaly I have owned 2 toshibas, a Hewlett Packard and an IBM... all in
the last four years. My girlfriend has blown them all up. Its like she has
a static field around her or something. I'm looking at my HP now. Its
really sad.
:(((
