[Dream] Calibrating monitors?

Ahah... thats what they mean by active! Imust admit I hadnt really checked
it out as there wasnt so many 'active ones out there when I bught my
Tannoys. Traditionaly speaking 'active' has always meant to me (with
regards to bass and guitar) that the intrument had a preamp in there to
drive the sound. With this in mind my comments above probably make more
sense.

However this doesnt detract from the fact that anything but a flat response
should be undesirable for an artist. Especialy for a dance oriented
artist. Unless of course you find that after mixdown your bass comes out to
boomy in a normal hi-fi environment.

Now with regards to your original question about calibration.. As you do
have active speakers... and you do know that the mix is always to boomy on a
hi-fi... why not turn the bass up on the speakers and down in the
mix. Experiment until you are getting uniformly good results (Use a spectrum
analyser and compare to 'pro' tunes if necessary). Surely that is the
'calibration' you need.

BTW... I always wanted to ask... why strangepork? Is it cos you isa
mooslim?
