A square footprint is just about the worst possible thing for a
studio room, especially when it is only a few (8) feet across. A long
and narrow (tunnel-like) room is also really bad - I had this with my
previous setup: it was like a textbook case of a low-frequency
standing wave. Ideally, the room should have no parallel walls,
unequal obtuse angles in the corners, and a slanted ceiling. An
irregular pentagon shape usually works.
