another recommendation then: get SATA-2 (aka SATA 3.0Gb/s) hard drives with
16 MB buffers (cache). peeps on this list recommeded staying away from
15000 rpm drives, as they run hot and loud. high-speed ram can't hurt
either.

dunno... is your monitor some really funky non-standard size? if it's not
unique (3247 X 699, anyone?!?), then there should be a preset for it. my
128MB sapphire (at least 2 years old) has about 20-30 presets for all sorts
of monitor sizes that i had never heard of.

which will probably be some time, then, and you may want to upgrade a part
or two anyways once you make the switch. anyhoo, i read somewhere that
Vista requires video cards that supposrt DirectX 10, which is relatively
new. not sure if that's only required for the fancy aero features, or if
all of vista requires it.
