Uhh huh... the kick was meant to demo a tutorial on kick design in
soundforge... still available on their website.  The actual kick is not so
good but the tutorial is sound.

As for the guiro sound its possible a percussion sound done on a sampler.
Wrom what I remember you rub a stick along a guiro to get a rasping
percussion sound.  I used to do this in reason by taking a falt perc sound
like a woodblock or rimshot and entering 8 or 16 in 1/32.  Then fading the
sound left to right. Add reverb... pour in some suge and stir before cooking
for 20 minutes on low.
